About 1000 BC in the presented book. From the establishment of Aryan culture in AD 1526 to the arrival of the Mughals and the first meeting of the trading companies of Europe, the development of the economic and social structure of India during almost 2500 years has been shown in the light of major political and dynastic events. mainly Dr. Thapar has interestingly described the various forms of Indian culture expressed in religion, art and literature, ideologies and institutions. This history begins with the Vedic culture, not because it is the starting-point of Indian culture, but because the early stages of Indian culture, which became visible in the Proto-historic and Harappan periods, are available to the general reader. Much has already been written in the books. This initial stage is mentioned in the chapter 'Purva Peethika'. The arrival of the Europeans marks the beginning of a new era in the history of India. That is why 1526 AD has been kept as the end. In the first chapter, the author has tried to explain the major intellectual influences on the historians writing about the past. This inevitably leads to an introduction to the new methods and practices that are being used in the study of history and which are also reflected in this book.
